Fall Service Changes
We review our bus routes and schedules throughout the year to see if there are areas where we can improve service. Several factors are taken into consideration - including feedback from our customers and drivers, ridership levels, and changing traffic patterns - to ensure we’re meeting the needs of Calgarians.
On Demand in Springbank Hill replaced with fixed-route service
After a successful pilot of On Demand transit service in Springbank Hill communities since October 2020, ridership in this area has increased to a level supporting fixed-route service. The introduction of fixed-route service will include three new routes, listed below. These new routes will be similar to but not exactly the same as routes that served the area before October 2020. Existing Routes 93 – Coach Hill/Westbrook Station, 98 - Cougar Ridge, 111 – Old Banff Coach Road, and 156 – Aspen Woods will remain unchanged. Please view the map of new fixed-route service in Springbank Hill. On Demand service will continue in Livingston and Carrington.
New fixed routes added:
- Route 51 - West Springs/Discovery Ridge
(replacing current Route 453 - West Springs) - Route 94 - Strathcona/Signal Hill
- Route 164 - Aspen Summit/Richmond Terminal
The following stops will be permanently closed:
- #3703 - Northbound 77 Street @ Wentworth Drive S.W. (Route 453)
- #3710 - Northbound 77 Street @ 10 Avenue S.W. (Route 453)
17 Avenue bus stop optimization
We’re changing some of our bus stop locations along 17 Avenue SW to provide a faster, more reliable service while still maintaining convenient access.
These changes impact the following routes*:
- Route 2 – Mt. Pleasant/Killarney/17 Ave
- Route 6 – Killarney/26 Avenue
- Route 7 - Marda Loop
- School express route 698 – 17 Ave/Western Canada/St. Mary’s
*The routes themselves are not changing – just the stop locations.
The following stops will be permanently closed:
- #5135 – Eastbound 17 Avenue @ Richmond Road S.W. (Route 2 and 698)
- #7294 – Eastbound 17 Avenue @ 9 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 6 and 698)
- #7587 – Eastbound 17 Avenue @ 2 Street S.W. (Route 6)
- #7931 – Westbound 17 Avenue @ 2 Street S.W. (Routes 7 and 698)
- #7936 – Westbound 17 Avenue @ 9 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 7 and 698)
The following stops will be permanently relocated:
- #7920 – Eastbound 17 Avenue @ 12 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 6 and 698) will move to the far side of 11 Street SW)
- #7922 – Eastbound 17 Avenue S.W. @ 10 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 6 and 698) will move to the far side of 9A Street SW)
- #7940 – Westbound 17 Avenue @ 9 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 7 and 698) will more to the far side of 11 Street SW)
Schedules are coming soon. These changes come into effect on Monday, September 4.
Route changes

| Route 305 - Bowness/City Centre | Route 305 is being cancelled. Service will be consolidated into Route 1, which will operate more frequently during weekday peak periods. Most current customers of Route 305 will be able to use Route 1. Customers travelling to Bowfort Rd will have alternate service available on Route 53. |
| Route 408 - Valley Ridge | Route 408 will be realigned and renamed Route 108 – Paskapoo Slopes. It will be more direct and save time through the Winsport area. The route will take the new 1 Avenue SW underpass connection under the West Calgary Ring Road. Route 108 – Paskapoo Slopes will operate more frequently and reduce travel times for residents in Crestmont and Valley Ridge. |
| Route 51 - West Springs | Route 51 is a new route that will replace the current Route 453 - West Springs. This route will travel from West Springs to Discovery Ridge without requiring a transfer at 69 Street Station. Route 51 – West Springs/Discovery Ridge will use 73 Street SW rather than 77 Street SW to improve coverage in the West Springs area. |

| Route 94 - Strathcona/Signal Hill | Route 94 is a new fixed route that is replacing On Demand service in Strathcona Park and Signal Hill. |
| Route 164 - Aspen Summit/Richmond Terminal | Route 164 - Aspen Summit/Richmond Terminal is a new route that is replacing On Demand service in the area. The new Route 164 will connect Aspen Summit with Signal Hill and Richmond Terminal. |

This route will travel from West Springs to Discovery Ridge without requiring a transfer at 69 Street Station.
