Monthly Pass Refunds (Adult and Youth)

Where can I request a refund?

Note: Refunds can only be issued to the original payment method.

Paper monthly passes

Visit any City of Calgary Customer Service Centre.

My Fare monthly passes

Email your refund request to myfare@calgary.ca.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, if you request the refund during the month the pass is valid.

  • Before the month starts

    If you request a refund before the first day of the month the pass is valid for, you will receive a full refund minus a $10 administration fee.

  • During the month

    If you request a refund during the month the pass is valid for, the refund will be reduced based on Calgary Transit’s standard refund calculation, plus a $10 administration fee.

  • After the 14th day of the month

    No refunds are available on or after the 15th day of the month, even if the pass has not been used.

How are refunds calculated?

When a refund is requested during the month, Calgary Transit deducts:

  • The value of two single fares per day, based on the type of pass purchased, and
  • A $10 administration fee.

Refund calculations follow a standard formula and are not based on your actual travel activity. 

Paper Monthly Passes

If you have proof of purchase

If your receipt shows the pass was purchased during the current month, the refund calculation uses the number of days from:

Date of purchase → Date refund is requested (inclusive).

If you do not have proof of purchase

Or if the pass was purchased before the month it is valid for, the refund calculation uses the number of days from:

First day of the valid month → Date refund is requested (inclusive).

Pass purchased in error

If you accidentally purchased the wrong paper pass before the month started and then bought the correct pass for the same month, you can receive a refund minus the $10 administration fee.

Pass condition

Paper passes must be returned in their original condition. Refunds may be refused if a pass has been altered, damaged, or defaced.

My Fare Monthly Passes

Refunds are calculated using the number of days from:

  • The date the pass was purchased to the date the refund is requested, or
  • The first day of the valid month to the date the refund is requested if the pass was purchased before that month to the date the refund is requested, or up to the last day the pass was used, if usage occurred after the refund request date.

Exchanges

Change a My Fare pass to a paper pass

You can exchange a My Fare monthly pass for a paper monthly pass by visiting a City of Calgary Customer Service Centre and paying a $10 administration fee.

Can a paper pass be exchanged for a My Fare pass?

Paper monthly passes cannot be exchanged for My Fare monthly passes.

If you would like to use My Fare, please choose that option when you purchase your next monthly pass.


Other Fare Products

The following products are not eligible for refunds, exchanges, or credits:

  • Low Income Transit Passes
  • Senior Citizen Annual Passes

All other fare products are non-refundable.

Lost or stolen passes will not be replaced.
