Fall Service Changes 2024
We review our bus routes and schedules throughout the year to see if there are areas where we can improve service. Several factors are taken into consideration - including feedback from our customers and drivers, ridership levels, and changing traffic patterns - to ensure we’re meeting the needs of Calgarians.
On Demand Service Expansion
On Demand transit service will be introduced to several new and growing communities to better serve the needs of Calgarians, and provide a much-needed connection to the broader transit network. The communities that will see this new service starting August 18 are:
- Ambleton, adding to existing Carrington/Livingston On Demand service
- Glacier Ridge and Sage Hill
- Ricardo Ranch, Seton, and Rangeview
- Pine Creek, Belmont, and Yorkville
- University of Calgary’s Spy Hill Campus and Calgary Police Services Spy Hill Locations (this service will be introduced August 26, before the start of the University of Calgary’s school year.)
Northwest Fixed-Route Improvements
A number of routes in the northwest will see changes following a transit service review to improve service in these communities. Partly informed by public feedback, these changes will improve connectivity in the Bow River corridor, introduce service to Rockland Park, and provide a connection between North Pointe Terminal and major destinations in Northwest Calgary.
Notable changes include:
- Route 26 - Sarcee Trail Crosstown is a new route connecting the Red Line Tuscany Station to the Blue Line Westbrook Station via Tuscany, Bowness, Sarcee Trail SW, and Bow Trail SW. This route also replaces previous school express Route 723 – Bowness High/Tuscany Hills, providing enhanced service with similar routing.
- Route 134 - South Silver Springs is being renamed to Route 134 - Rockland Park and will be realigned from Crowfoot Station to Rockland Park via Nose Hill Drive NW, introducing service to the Rockland Park community.
- Route 115 – Symons Valley Parkway will be extended eastward to connect to North Pointe Terminal via 144 Avenue N and 1 Street NE/Harvest Hills Boulevard N.
School Service Express Routes
School service routes will also be starting again for the new school year, with the addition of new routes as well as route and schedule modifications to current routes in order to improve service levels and reliability for students and our broader ridership. These express routes will be in place on August 29 and 30, but trip planning won’t be available until September 2, when the service changes begin. Students can still use the trip planner by following this link and entering a departure date after September 2.
On Demand starts Sunday, August 18 (with service to the University of Calgary Spy Hill Campus starting Monday, August 26), and the rest of these changes come into effect on Monday, September 2.
