Starting on April 3, the Get on Board Travel Training Summer Camp registration is open. The Travel Trainers are offering a unique camp experience aimed to teach young participants aged 12 to 19 years old with disabilities how to use Calgary Transit safely and independently.

During camp which runs in mid-July, participants will be provided with safety tips from a Calgary Transit Peace Officer, take a tour of Oliver Bowen Maintenance Facility, learn about trip planning and how to pay a fare, and receive a presentation from Calgary Transit Customer Service. Each camp session consists of nine hours of total instruction and activity time, with sessions are spread out over three days.

"It's an incredible opportunity for youth with disabilities to become acquainted with the Transit system, feel empowered to get around the city, and build important wayfinding skills", said Clare Russell, Travel Trainer Community Liaison.

What's new this year? Sign up is now offered on The City’s Live and Play website to streamline the registration process. To check if this program is right for your family members, learn more on the new registration site or visit the Accessibility website.
